Elastix is based on CentOs. What I have tested is istalling Elastix in Virtualbox inside Ubuntu.

Primarily speaking, Elastix is designed to be distributed along with the CentOS environment. It is available integrated with the operating system. Here's the link...

Oh, one more thing. I would not try to suggest squeezing Elastix into another distribution as all the updates are tied to the YUM update repositories. Manual updates are no fun. =0) Stick with the ISOs the Elastix team has built for us.

The use of a virtual machine may have many purposes, one is for testing, another for avoiding to have more than one server.

It wouldn't be the best solution but think virtual machine as an OS inside another OS. I use Virtualbox for having XP and win7 inside an Ubuntu, the reason is: clients support, many of them use microsoft products and is not a good idea to be closing one systen to open other and back again.

The updates in Ubuntu and windows are transparent because they are two independent OS in one machine.

Hi
It's not impossible. But like said Anrey, just an update issue. Some personal works was done, but it's not really easy to do it.

So, stay on Centos. ;)

Is your boot priority in your BIOS set to boot CD/DVD first? Or, most motherboards also have a boot menu option very early in the boot phase. If you've done those, you might try another burning software (I use ImgBurn) and burn it at a slower speed. I still think slower burns are more reliable, lol. I guess I'm old school. Also, check the MD5Sum to make sure the ISO you downloaded is valid. Hope this helps.

Yes the boot priority is set to CD/DVD. How do I burn the downloaded file?

What I am doing is burn this "Elastix-2.0.3-i386-bin-15Nov2010.iso" using power iso.

Is there something wrong? Or I need to burn the files inside this folder?

Thanks for your response

Hi.

You must be careful at your CDROM.
Folowing the CDROM devices, it's possible that it not be able to read some kind of CDROM.
For example, i had some problem with the CROM 90mn. I should use a CDROM 80mn.
Otherwise, change the CDROM device.

Just an idea like that. ;)

Noted on that.

Am I correct on the way I burn the downloaded file?

I don't know poweriso.

If on your cd you have only the file elastix...iso, you can't boot on the cdrom.
You want to boot from the CDROM on virtual box, right?
Virtalbox, is able of course, to boot from a CDROM and from an ISO file.
You must select the type of boot used, into virtualbox.
Else put your iso file into a folder, and set up virtualbox to use an iso file for the boot start.

Have poweriso an option to burn image files?

Maybe you are burning the iso file as data to the cd disc. I took a quick look to poweriso and read that is an iso processing tool (extract, create, mount, etc).

Am I wrong?
